The Craziness Extends Beyond the Immediate Family
Watching an episode of CSI with my mom. In it, a guy misfires his gun and shoots himself in the leg.
Mom: Grandpa did that.
Me: What?
Mom: Shot himself in the leg. I was little though, remind me to ask Grandma for the whole story.

My dad did this, believe it or not! This was 43 years ago, and his friends STILL call him "Queeks-draw"
Yeah, I talked to my grandma, thats how my grandpa did it too, him and his friend were practicing their quick draws, while drunk, and he wasn't quite fast enough.
Excerpt of a conversation he had with a friend of mine:
G: "So, you shot yourself too. Welcome to the club."
F: "Yeah, I leaned the rifle against a fence, and as I crossed over it fell and went off. Bam, right through the hand."
G: "How much had you had?"
F: "What? Drinking? Nothing, why?"
G: "You were sober? Ohhh... (complete with a look that said "what kind of fool shoots himself when sober")."
F: "???"
As if shooting one's self while drunk is superior...

ps- The old man also managed to get shot TWICE by the Missouri branch of our family.
